The Stig by AmoAngelus The Stig by AmoAngelus
Some say....

He was born in space.
His favourite food is raw meat.
He sleeps upside down like a bat.
His sweat can be used to clean precious metals.
His skin has the texture of dolphins.
If you tune your radio to 88.4 you can actually hear his thoughts.
He does not see like humans do, instead he sees numbers in green scrolling down
He forages for wolves at night.
He is scared of bells.
He once punched a horse to the ground.
His politics are terrifying.
He lives in a tree.
He appears on high-value stamps in Sweden.
His favourite philosopher is Immanuel Kant.
He has no understanding of clouds.
His earwax tastes like Turkish Delight.
He is confused by stairs.
He naturally faces magnetic north.
He is illegal in 17 U.S. states.
His heart ticks like a watch.
All his legs are hydraulic.
He can accumbularate.
He appears on Japanese banknotes.
There's an airport in Russia named after him.
He is wanted by the CIA.
His breath smells of magnesium.
He can catch fish with his tongue.
His tears are adhesive.
If set alight, he'd burn for a thousand days.
He is terrified of ducks.
His voice can only be heard by cats.
He has two sets of knees.
He can swim seven lengths underwater.
He has webbed buttocks.
He can melt concrete on contact.

All we know is, he's called The Stig.

For those of you not familier with the Stig...shame on you. I'll educate you. Over in England the BBC hosts a wonderfully funny and delightfully informative car show that even people with no interest in cars will find funny. The three presenters run around being absolutely insane, then they hand orgasmically sexy cars to the tame racing driver whose identity has never been revealed. The stig will race these cars around a runway and record how fast they are. Simples!

Of course...this Stig is not Stig one. Stig one was sadly launched off an aircraft carrier into the ocean. *moments silence*

My dad and I love that show and watch it all the time. He's trying to get tickets so we can hang out all day watching them record it, because there's always a live audience in the hanger where they film the presenting bit. The challenges and racing and suchwhat all happens outdoors of course. So for a fathersday present...Well I could hardly not once I'd seen the chart!

My favorite character.

But I'm sure the SCP Foundation would have interest in him!

I LOVE he Stig. And Top Gear on BBC is much better than the American version. I watch it whenever I can. I believe that at the end of one season the had Michael Schumacher as The Stig. But then he went back to F-1.

Yes I did. And it's a good job new Stig is the same colour as Old Stig, if they changed the colour of his suit again I'd have had to redo the whole thing...actually...I wish they'd changed his suit so I can do another one :P The next stitch for my dad is a Darleck, just as soon as I can decide how to finish it.

Wasn't there a black stig and a white stig at one point?

Black Stig got launched off an aircraft carrier trying to reach 60 and stop in the space of the runway...he didn't make it and died, so they replaced him with white stig (translation, Black Stig was thinking about doing what traitor tig did do and they got rid of him before he could)

I saw that on youtube! It was funny, but he didn't "die." He washed up onshore, pretended a frisbee was a car wheel, then ran off.

My dad and I also sit around on lazy Sundays and watch BBC America on demand episodes of Top Gear.

Fabulous work darling!

hehe thank you. I think they'd laugh themselves silly if they ever saw this, but I really can't be bothered to email them a copy of it and their facebook page doesn't really have the option of my posting it.

What are you having trouble with?

Don't know if this will help, but the biggest tips I can share with anybody are:
If the design calls for two strands of thread, instead take 1, fold it in half and thread the two ends through the needle. This will leave a loop at one end. Now when you put your needle through the fabric, bring it back through the loop. That's called the loop method. It secures your thread quickly, easily, neatly and strongly. It's my favourite method.
Stitch blocks of colour rather than in lines. It's easy to get overwealmed if you're changing colours every two seconds. It's much easier to simply stitch as much of one colour as you can, then move onto the next. The design also grows much faster because you're not messing around changing colours.
Always make a photocopy of your chart. If you have a photocopied chart you can mark off your progress as you go so you don't get lost. And if you make a mistake, just scrap it and make a new photocopy. This also preserves your chart for longer ^_^
If you're using metallic threads, or satin threads, or just have unruly threads. Buy a tub of thread heaven and run your threads through it. You find they behave a lot better.
Lastly, always let your needle dangle now and then. It will twirl and unwind (all thread gets a little twisted as you stitch, that's normal) and cause less knots.
